Tony Blair: Why was he disliked so much? (Politics)

Tony Blair, considered by many as a great leader during the early 2000s and dispirited by many as a false narrative for what he represented, the role of being a leader for the Labour Party.

He was extremely popular during his first term, winning his first electoral victory and kept his position for 9 more consecutive years as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

It wasn’t until 2003, the then invasion of Iraq, that he became a figure of hate and dislike among the general public.

Despite his unpopularity, the Conservative Party allowed him to win a further General Election in 2005. He started to become less favourable by early to mid 2006.

For a few years, it generally did seem he was the great unifier. He had record approval ratings across all voting demographics. He did many great things for this country domestically; but following Bush into Iraq absolutely obliterated his popularity and legacy.

That kind of popularity can’t last forever.
