After Star Wars: Outlaws flopped, Ubisoft’s stock tanked, to the point that it needed a large desperate amount of funding for the company to survive.
In January 2025, Ubisoft secured funding from Chinese tech giant Tencent, known for its innovative hardware and software, has established funding for Ubisoft as leverage in Ubisoft’s franchises, which could bring them to the Chinese market and bolster Ubisoft's currently failing financial situation.
Tencent is also investing in a newly created subsidiary that will focus on Ubisoft's major franchises such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six.
Ubisoft is still struggling and I could personally see Tencent acquiring majority control of the company before the end of the 2025 fiscal year.
