Warren Card Game

What is Warren

Warren is a friendly card game designed by Warren Woodhouse.

Each player receives the same deck to make the game as fair as possible.

Players and Cards

Warren is a two-player or seven-player game using one standard British decks of 52 cards with 6 jokers removed, a set of 4 cards for each player to begin with.

Objective

Each hand has 4 cards per player with no jokers and no jacks in the deck at all (2 jokers and 4 jacks removed). The objective is to get a total numerical value of 43 in order to win the round with 4 rounds in the game.

Opening Round

To start, each player receives 4 cards from the shuffled deck, this forms their initial hand. The objective is to get a total numerical value of 43. Any number above 43 is bust. A player with 43 must shout out “Warren” to win the round.

Game Play

After the opening round play continues with players taking turns. On each turn, you must do one of the following:

If you don’t have a total numerical value of 43 to begin with, the dealer must ask if you want a card to be drawn from the deck and added to your current hand. You can pass your turn by saying “Pass”.
You can split your hand to form two separate hands. This follows the same rule which implies that 43 is the total value to win the given round. This can be effective if you decide to create a set of 20 and a set of 23, equally adding up to 43. If you go bust on one hand, both hands become bust and you lose the round.
Trade in your current set of dealt 4 cards for a new set. This can only be done at the start of the round and not halfway through.

Any hands that are discarded from play need to be added to the discard pile. These cards can't be recovered.

Playing Number Cards

(Ace=10, King=10, Queen=10, Jack=0, Joker=0)

Number and Face cards in each hand are played.

If Ace is in the playing hand: King & Queen are considered as 1

If King is in the playing hand: Queen & Ace are considered as 1

If Queen is in the playing hand: Ace & King are considered as 1

Winning

To score you simply add the total sum of number and face cards that you have. Total value of the hand is 43 to win. Over 43 is bust.

Ace=10

King=10

Queen=10

Jack=0

Joker=0

Deck and Hand Construction

You must have a minimum of 30 cards to play with in your deck - the rules mention a maximum number of 4 cards allowed in your hand. You may use more than one set of traditional playing cards and have any number of cards of any type provided they don't include any two cards that are precisely the same (face and back). In practice, deck construction doesn't matter. So long as you're playing with at least 30 cards and don't have two of the same card from identical decks, then you are playing by the rules. A full 54-card deck with Jokers for each player is ideal for even, fair game play. Both players have the same cards and the same advantage. 54 cards is also enough for what could be a battle, should the game go on for that long.

Running Out of Cards

If you run out of cards, you automatically lose and the opponent(s) win the round.

Maps Databank (Databanks)

A databank on Maps and Cartography.

The study and practice of mapping is called cartography.

Maps are defined with a legend which describes the various types of locations on a map using symbols and the name of the type of location it is such as church and shows the crucifix symbol.

Mapping has been created prior to Egyptian culture where people have been surveying local areas and noting landmarks, rock formations and land types by way of writing in various tomes (books on a particular subject).

That being said, maps continue to still be produced to this day in many mediums both physical and digital.

Almost Finished The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the PS4 (Skyrim) (Gaming)

It's been nearly 4 years since I first played on SKYRIM on my PS4 and I've almost finished the game's total trophy count.

Lots of enemies slained by my hand of the bow. Countless days and nights have been spent aiming at the Legend trophy. I'm now at level 58 and certainly nearing towards the level of 78 in order to slain a level 70 dragon!!

These fierce dragons can kill you if you're unprepared so I'm taking extra precautions as lead up to my final moments.

I'm very certain that I'll take out this dragon before this year is out otherwise my next year's major priority is to complete this game.

This game has amazed and astounded my expectations beyond what I was hoping to see in the game. I'm always, most certainly, encountering new miscellaneous quests and new side quests that I haven't experienced before.

If you haven't played this game, I highly and personally recommend it.

Chapter I: Chicken Poker by Warren Woodhouse - Short Stories - Warren Kris Woodhouse Publishing

About the Story

Short story about a poker night at a speakeasy in a Las Vegas style town. Reynard City Comics 2019 Writing Contest nominee.

Story

It’s a cold crisp night in the Old Quarter, where neon lights glisten. This part of the city looks very much like 50’s Las Vegas, only a little more runned down, feeling sad for its self from the days that have passed. Not many people out tonight except for a few friends of the local Misty Fox Speakeasy Club.

This club is a very old Grade I listed Speakeasy from the prohibition period that was and still is selling illegal alcohol on the sly and poker games. People tend to bring random stuff to these poker games in Reynard City, specifically some people bring glass eyes instead of dices and stuffed animals instead of friends.

Frankie brought his prized chicken, Max, to the poker game. Max won Reynard Barn 2088 Farm Yard Animal of the Year Award. Max often plays poker illegally at gambling dens.

Here, many folks flock to have a few pints of the old ale, in a prohibition period cavern.

It’s here that a poker night changed an old man’s life. Old Man Herbert. He loves poker and a pint of bread ale - made for filling people up.

Old Man Herbert was drinking as usual and a couple of locals offer a poker game that Herbert doesn’t refuse too.

He was on his way to getting some money back in his pocket after an unfortunate layoff at work at the power plant.

Out of nowhere, a patron called Frankie Whiskers brings in a chicken, a real chicken, who for some unknown and bizarre reason, that Frankie thinks that his prized chicken will win at poker yet again!!

Unfortunately and very surprised Herbert, wasn’t happy about this, as he’s heard about this chicken thinking it was just a joke.

Then, out of no where... wham!!! The chicken wins with a royal flush!!

“No doubt it’s my bad luck again!” says Herbert, but he finds out that the chicken cheated at poker!

So, a few hours later and a charcoal stove turned off and a meal of chicken ramen

was making everyone happy in the speakeasy.

Often unfortunate events can make fortune for the brave folk.
