How to resolve the PS5’s WiFi Connection Issue (How Tos) (Tutorials) (Codes) (Gaming)

 Solution by Warren Woodhouse

  1. Install PS5 Updates
  2. Turn off the PS5 completely
  3. Turn off and unplug interfering devices like Ring door bell cameras and anything similar, such as smart speakers
  4. Turn off the router at the wall for 30-60 seconds
  5. Wait for 60 seconds then on the PS5, press and hold the power button until you hear the second beep, this lets you enter Safe Mode
  6. In Safe Mode, select Clear System Software Cache and Rebuild Database and then select Clear System Software Cache
  7. Once you reach the Home Screen of the PS5, turn off the PS5
  8. Enter Safe Mode again, this time you need to Rebuild Database, this defrags the console. Defragging brings the most recent files to the front, making the console or a computer run faster
  9. On the Home Screen, head to Settings in the top right of the screen (cog wheel) and select Network
  10. In Network, head to Settings then into Set Up Internet Connection
  11. You should find your Network name here, press the Options button on the PS5 controller and select Advanced Settings
  12. Set the following: IP Address Settings as Automatic; DHCP Host as Don’t Specify; DNS Settings as Manual with Primary DNS as 1.1.1.1 and Secondary DNS as 1.0.0.1; Proxy Server as Don’t Use; MTU Settings as Manual with MTU as 1492
  13. Select OK
  14. Wait for the connection to establish
  15. Head back to the main section of the Network page and select Connection Status
  16. Then select View Connection Status
  17. Your WiFi signal strength should now be either 68% or 70% instead of 42% or 50%
  18. You can improve this connection by using either a wired Ethernet connection directly to the console and the router; by moving the console and router closer to each other; by placing the router at a higher elevation rather than on the floor or on a coffee table (ceilings give a better result if the console is in a room above the router position); changing the GHz band from 2.4 to 5 has been proven to work in some cases but not all; waiting for Sony to release a firmware update patch, these are all examples of ways to improve your connection. Alternatively, you can also use Google’s secure public DNS servers instead of Cloudflare’s. The following are: Google Public DNS: primary is 8.8.8.8 and secondary is 8.8.4.4; Cloudflare Public DNS: primary is 1.1.1.1 and secondary is 1.0.0.1
  19. If the issue persists, contact PlayStation Support
  20. Make sure you restart your router at the start of every month to ensure the best experience with your Internet connection
