Alan, Wake Up Trophy - Alan Wake Remastered Guide

Guide by Warren Woodhouse

Also known as the Nightmare Mode trophy, it’s not for the faint hearted. It’ll take a little bit longer to clear out the Darkness as well as the enemies as they have a little more health and deal out a little more damage; also at the same time, though the amount of ammo you can find everywhere and the number of checkpoints doesn’t change, so if you take your time when collecting ammo as well as just running away from optional fights, you’ll find it to be an easier way to complete the game.

You’ll definitely die a bit more than usual on Nightmare Mode but because of those checkpoints, it’ll be easy to overcome any points you might have died at.

Good luck as you’ll definitely need it.

Collectibles - Alan Wake Guide

Episode 1: Nightmare

  • 1st Coffee Thermos: After the opening cutscene concludes, follow the main road beneath a street light. Directly ahead, explore the broken bridge to find the thermos resting on some plywood. | Get to the Lighthouse
  • 1st Can Pyramid: Use your flashlight and the gun a spotlight gives you to defeat an enemy, then immediately look on the fence to your right to find the can pyramid. | Get to the Lighthouse
  • 2nd Coffee Thermos: Encounter and defeat a small group of enemies, then check the box on the nearby power pole to find a flare gun. Just after that pole and to the right, stairs descend to a concrete bunker. From the top of the stairs, you can see the base of the thermos resting on a crate. | Get to the Lighthouse
  • 3rd Coffee Thermos: After you outrun a tornado, check the bench just ahead of the lighthouse entrance. | Get to the Lighthouse
  • 4th Coffee Thermos: Talk to the waitress who greets you as you enter the diner, then head along the counter’s left side and find the thermos on a cabinet beneath the “OhDeer Diner” sign. | Find Carl Stucky
  • 5th Coffee Thermos: When you arrive on the island, Diver’s Isle, don’t head for the cabin immediately. Instead, turn around and follow a trail uphill to your car. The thermos rests on the ground to the left of your vehicle. | Go to the Cabin
  • 1st Radio Show: On the island, enter the unlit cabin and pass straight through the front room to emerge on the back porch. The radio is to your right. | Get the power on
  • 6th Coffee Thermos: After you listen to the radio, return to the cabin and check the counter in the kitchen to your right to find the thermos. | Get the power on
  • 1st Manuscript: As you descend along a trail from your car, a sequence depicts two pages of a manuscript flying in the breeze. You collect both of them automatically. | Reach the gas station
  • 2nd Manuscript: You receive the second manuscript page along with the first, as noted above. | Reach the gas station
  • 7th Coffee Thermos: Following a cutscene depicting a run-in with Stucky at the lumberyard, head through the claw of the logging equipment directly ahead of you, then veer right to find the thermos on the ground behind a pickup truck. | Find help
  • 3rd Manuscript: Not far from where you found the thermos, on the ground near a stack of wooden beams, you will find a glowing manuscript page. | Find help
  • 1st Chest: After you escape from a shack before it slides over a hill, you will encounter enemies near some wood piles beneath an awning. Eliminate the threat, then continue forward and past a loaded log truck. At the truck’s end, look to the right to spot the chest. | Reach the gas station
  • 4th Manuscript (Nightmare Difficulty Mode): After you kick the electrical box, cross the formerly electrified fence. Travel downhill and defeat an enemy near the logging equipment, then head uphill to find a shack. As you approach, the manuscript page is on a wall to the right. | Reach the gas station
  • 8th Coffee Thermos: Use a large fallen log to start across the river. When you reach the log’s far end, take a detour to the left to find the thermos resting on some rocks. | Reach the gas station
  • 5th Manuscript: As you proceed through the river crossing sequence, head along three logs joined together to form a bridge. On their far side, there is a barrel and what looks like a white-clothed table. The manuscript page rests near the edge of the table nearest the barrel. It is easy to miss if you don’t get close or aren’t looking for it. | Reach the gas station
  • 2nd Chest: Finish crossing the river and head uphill to defeat some enemies. Once they are out of the way, climb a ladder to reach the top of a pile of logs and head to your right. Climb the hill to a shack, then head around its side to find the entryway. Just inside that doorway, you’ll find the chest on the floor near some shelves. | Reach the gas station
  • 9th Coffee Thermos: When you reach the broken stairs area, look near their base to find a power box with a blinking red light. Look at the nearest pile of logs and head around its side to find the thermos sitting on a mossy boulder. | Find a generator
  • 6th Manuscript: You will reach a generator guarded by enemies. Defeat them and head into the nearby shack to find the manuscript page sitting on a table. | Find a generator
  • 2nd Can Pyramid: After you restore power and use the lift to move logs into position so you can cross between log piles, search to the right to find a balcony with some outdoor furniture. The cans are stacked in a pyramid on a table. | Reach the gas station
  • 2nd Radio Show: From the balcony with the can pyramid, head uphill to find a shack with the radio inside, resting on a barrel. | Reach the gas station
  • 3rd Chest: Behind the shed where you find the radio at the top of the broken staircase, there are more shacks and an old car. Just behind the old car, against a wooden wall, you’ll find the chest. | Reach the gas station
  • 7th Manuscript: Head uphill from the shacks and old car to find two vertical poles near the edge of a rocky overlook area. The manuscript page is on the ground to their left. | Reach the gas station
  • 10th Coffee Thermos: Start downhill from the two poles where you found the manuscript, veering right to find the thermos on a rocky ledge. | Reach the gas station
  • 11th Coffee Thermos: Reach the Safe Haven area, with the generator and light pole. Head to the cliff and follow it left to find the thermos near a barrel on another rocky ledge. Enemies attack periodically in this area. | Reach the gas station
  • 8th Manuscript: As you head uphill from where you found the last thermos, the manuscript page is on the path in the grass. It glows and is easy to see as you approach it. | Reach the gas station
  • 4th Chest: After fighting your way through an onslaught of Taken and past the next spotlight and supply box, drop down to a construction area and head left. Shine your light on rocks to find arrows pointing the way to a chest in that direction. | Reach the gas station
  • 9th Manuscript: As you arrive at the next lumberyard, there are closed gates on the path ahead of you, with a manuscript page lying out in the open to the left of a building. | Reach the gas station
  • 1st TV Show: Enter the building ahead of the closed gates to the third lumberyard. A television sits on a shelf in front of a window. | Reach the gas station
  • 12th Coffee Thermos: Defeat the gang of enemies that attack you in the third lumberyard. Check the base of the huge construction crane, along the tracks positioned on its right side as you approach. | Reach the gas station
  • 10th Manuscript: Climb the hill and steps leading to the gas station property. Pass under the streetlamp and you will see the manuscript page at the base of the deer-shaped float. | Reach the gas station
  • 13th Coffee Thermos: To the right from the deer float, there are signs listing prices for gasoline. The thermos rests on the ground between them. | Reach the gas station
  • 14th Coffee Thermos: Before entering the gas station, take a detour along the road leading downhill from the station. You will find it blocked by a truck. The thermos is near the truck’s front tire. | Reach the gas station
  • 2nd TV Show: As you enter the gas station building through its garage, you will pass by a television that turns on automatically. Use the focus action to view the broadcast. | Find a phone
  • 1st Sign: When you enter the building’s store portion from the garage, step toward the right and look at the end of the shelves to find a sign advertising a festival. | Find a phone
