Driver Video Game Reference
In one of the Assassination Pay Phone Missions, in the opening dialogue, the associate mentions that Dick Tanner is working for the DBP Security in Ocean Drive. Tanner is the protagonist in the Driver video game series and first made appearance in Driver which is set in Miami.
Deborah Harry Cameo
A one-off cameo voiceover appearance of Deborah Harry (aka Blondie) as the voice of the taxi cab operator at Kaufman Cabs in Little Haiti.

If you use the Casual Outfit from Gash in The North Point Mall, head to the Vercetti Estate and you’ll find Gash Shopping Bags scattered throughout the interior of mansion.
The Definitive Edition Inaccuracies
The following, listed below, are inaccuracies found throughout The Definitive Edition version of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. These were all seen during v1.05.
• Graphics: Nearly all of the original graphics have been replaced with newly updated graphics, some of which have incorrect dates for the 1986 setting. This includes magazines, posters, billboards and vending machines.
• Lance Vance’s Cop Land Outfit: Lance is still wearing his old facial skin and outfit in The Definitive Edition version of the “Cop Land” mission.
• Film Posters: This includes the Richards Majestic film posters which are from the 2012 setting of Los Santos in Grand Theft Auto V.
• Oh No Music Album: Oh No never made music in 1986 as he started his career in the 90’s.
The Godfather II Film Reference
The stadium named Hyman Memorial Stadium is named after the tritagonist character from the film The Godfather II, Hyman Roth.
Hyman Memorial Stadium Trophies
In the Vercetti Estate mansion, you’ll find the trophies on top of the TV in the living room area for all three of the Stadium Events.
Beta Vice City Map
In the original and in The Definitive Edition, you’ll see a copy of the original Beta version of Vice City’s map used for the Vice Street Racer map at Sunshine Autos in Little Havana.
Rockstar Games Logo Shaped Swimming Pool
You’ll find a Rockstar Games Logo shaped Swimming Pool on Starfish Island. If you use a helicopter, you can get a better view.
1980’s Gaming Screen
As soon as you start up the game disc, you’ll see the logo introduction sequences and one of them is in the style of the 1980’s when gaming started to become more serious at homes.
Shooting Range Trophies
In the Vercetti Estate mansion, you’ll find the Shooting Range paper shots on top of a coffee table in the office. You’ll also see some field range manuals on the desk in the office as well. You’ll also see a Shooter of the Month trophy on top of the TV in the hotel room at The Ocean View Hotel in Ocean Beach.
Rockstar Games Video Games Store
A frontage of Rockstar Games as a video games store can be seen near The Pole Position Club in Ocean Beach.

A replica miniature version of Cortez’ Yacht is on display in the office inside The Malibu Club in Vice Point. This is available after completing the mission “All Hands on Deck!”.
The Village People Spoof
A spoof of The Village People can be seen dancing on stage at The Malibu Club in Vice Point.
The Deeper the Sea, The Braver the Man Quote
A quote on the side of warship in Studio A can be seen at InterGlobal Film Studios on Prawn Island. The quote is the name of the scene in the in-game film Bite, which is a reference to Jaws. However, the setting is 1986 in the game and this suggests that the quote is a reference to the Orca which was seen destroyed and sunk in Jaws 2. At the rear of the studio complex in the strait between Vice City Mainland and Prawn Island, you’ll find a sunken and destroyed Reefer in the sea. This suggests that the scenery and Bite is actually a reference to Jaws 2, which was released in 1986.
Scarface Film Reference
Most of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is loosely based on the film Scarface along with the red interior Vercetti Estate mansion, the trophy named “Salutations My Little Friend” and the 1980’s drug scene setting of Vice City.
Psycho Film Reference
In Washington Beach area, near the Pay ‘n’ Spray and multi-storey car park, you’ll find a motel room that has an entrance symbol outside. Stepping into the room and you’ll find blood in the bathtub along with a chainsaw, an obvious reference to the film Psycho.
