A tin-pot empire is a small, weak or fake-seeming realm or organisation led by someone who acts very important but lacks real power. The phrase uses "tin-pot" to mean cheap, flimsy and low quality while combined with the word "empire" to mock a grand rule that is actually tiny and silly.

Alright, chucks!

As someone who was born in Lancashire, England, I rarely use phrases from my birth county but over the last few years, I’ve tried to use greetings and phrases from my native county to spice up my vocabulary and my videos on my YouTube channel. Below are some common phrases from Lancashire that I thought I should share with you guys.

Alright, chuck: a term of endearment, it means “How are you doing, friend.”
Well, I’ll go to the foot of our stairs!: Used to emphasise shock or disbelief of something you’ve just witnessed
Where there’s muck, there’s brass: Hard work is profitable, basically
Stop being so mardy: Stop being so moody
Put wood in t’hole: It means that you should close the door. My mum often adds “Were you born in a barn? Put wood in t’hole!”. Letting the heat out of a house is never a good thing
Ay up, me duck: a warm and affectionate greeting heard across multiple northern counties, it means “Hello, my friend.”
